Ms. Rust

Hello!  I’m Christine Rust, a third grade teacher here at Eisenhower Elementary.  I am thrilled to have your child in my class this year!  I have many exciting plans, and I know that we are going to have a wonderful year together.  Let me tell you a little about myself… I grew up in a military family, stationed overseas for ten years and throughout the Midwest.  My father retired from the Army and enjoys his free time.  My mother is a teacher at Westwood Elementary, here in Junction City.  I have one younger brother, Brian, who is an electrical engineer living in Chicago. 

I received my Bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University in 1996 and began teaching the next fall on Fort Riley.  In May of 2003, I received my Master’s degree (KSU again!  J) with an “English as a Second Language” Endorsement.  After six years at Custer Hill Elementary on Fort Riley, I spent a year teaching in Overland Park, Kansas.  In that year, I realized I’m not a ‘city girl’ and came home to the area and USD 475!  This will be my third year at Eisenhower Elementary and my ninth year teaching third grade. 

I love teaching and enjoy the surprises each day brings!  I am also a lifelong learner, and have recently begun the process of becoming a National Board Certified Teacher.  This is an exciting opportunity for me to become a more accomplished teacher and positively impact student learning.  In my free time, I love to exercise, read, and enjoy the outdoors!   J
